Natural Immune Boosters

Colds, influenza and other viruses, diseases, pathogens, toxins, germs, bacteria, what do all these little nasties have in common? This is what our bodies deal with everyday. Our immune system fights them off to the best of its ability but, winning the war depends on the capability and quality of equipment soldiers are fighting with. Why should our bodies be different considering what it fights off everyday?

The immune system works the same for pets as it does for humans. It is the first line of defense against everything from bacteria to viruses to a host of other illnesses. With our pets exposed to more environmental hazards than ever these days, a pet immune boost is especially important and nothing works as well to provide it as natural products made from plant based ingredients.

Quercetin - Quercetin is a bioflavonoid that supports cellular health and function. In human cell culture studies, it has been shown to block the manufacture and release of inflammation-causing substances, which can help support a healthy immune response to seasonal viruses.

On your diet: Avoid foods rich in cholesterol, refined sugar, and coffee. Cholesterol-packed foods pose direct harm to the immune system while coffee causes dehydration and rob your body of important nutrients. On the other hand, sugar increases insulin which limits the hormones necessary to the body. Besides, it can also rob your body of nutrients as it uses them for their metabolism.

Ginseng is another adaptogen and like Tulsi it helps in normalizing physical functions depending on individual needs. It helps lowering stress, improving energy, memory and immune system. It also stabilizes blood sugar so you don't crash when you're hungry. It increases performance and gives you an overall feeling of wellness.

Cayenne. There is no other herb which increases your blood flow faster than cayenne. Cayenne moves blood. It is a circulatory tonic and helps improve circulation. More blood means more oxygen racing through your body. This is just what your metabolism needed. Because it is a natural metabolism booster many diet supplements now add cayenne to their formulas.

Kombucha is not eaten, but is brewed into a strong antiviral and antibacterial tea after it has been left to ferment for a week or more in a mixture of spring or filtered water, organic sugar, and organic green or black tea. Kombucha Tea is widely used to help fight immune related disease and greatly helps to boost the immune system to fight swine flu, fight influenza and other viruses with out any ill effects.

Vitamin C & Zinc: either supplement morning and night or make sure your diet has enough with foods such as berries, avocados, citrus fruits & green vegetables for vitamin C and things like egg yolks, fish & seafood, meat, pumpkin seeds and kelp for zinc. Adequate Sunlight: Much more difficult to do in the winter months but Vitamin D is so important for our immune system.

Garlic is a powerful booster not only because of its strong flavor but because it works to generate efficient antibodies to fight off common colds and viruses. If you don't like the strong taste of garlic or the odor that usually flows through your pores the next day, you can purchase garlic in tablet or supplement form.
